5 Takeaways From the Chiefs' 31-13 Win Over the Raider

The Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders played each other on Sunday.

The team's 14 victories this year are equal to the 2020 Chiefs'  franchise record for a single season (that team went 14-2 in a 16-game  season).

Here are five takeaways from Saturday's game.

1

1. Kansas City is the AFC's No. 1 playoff seed

The Chiefs clinched the AFC's one-seed for the playoffs with a win on  Saturday. Kansas City can rest up while the rest of the AFC plays in the  Wild Card round. The home-field advantage element could remain murky  regarding a potential AFC Championship Game.

Patrick Mahomes broke Drew Brees's single-season record for most total yards by a player in the process. Reid and Bieniemy dialed up a masterful opening script and kept the pressure on afterwards, finding creative ways to get wide receiver Kadarius Toney involved.

2

positive performance for Steve Spagnuolo's defense

3

Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's unit had every reason to be proud against the Raiders. Up front, players such as Chris Jones, Mike Danna and George Karlaftis applied pressure on Jarrett Stidham. In the secondary, Juan Thornhill and Justin Reid stepped up in a major way.

Kansas City's special teams peaked at the right time against Las Vegas. Harrison Butker was 1-for-1 on field goals with a 44-yarder and Tommy Townsend had a great game as a punter. Two of Townsend's punts were deep in Las Vegas territory.

4

Davante Adams surpasses 1,500 receiving yards for the second consecutive  season. Josh Jacobs misses out on rushing title as he finishes with  1,653 yards. First Raiders player since Marcus Allen in 1985 to lead the  league in rushing since '85 hasn't done it.

5

It's an early start to the offseason for the Raiders after qualifying for the playoffs last season.
