Rams vs Raiders Match Recap
The Los Angeles Rams beat the Las Vegas Raiders 17-16 on Thursday night. The Rams are now 4-9 on the season, while the Raiders are 3-2 in the desert.
Baker Mayfield led the Rams on a 98-yard game-winning drive. The former No. 1 overall pick only had a couple of days to learn the playbook. It's safe to say Mayfield will be starting in Week 15 against the Green Bay Packers.
Cam Akers fumbled the ball again in Thursday's game against the Raiders. It was the second fumble of the season for the young running back. Akers still led the Rams with 42 rushing yards and a touchdown on 12 attempts, compared to Kyren Williams' 19 yards on three attempts.
Tutu Atwell hauled in five of his nine targets for 50 yards against the Raiders. The second-year wideout has impressed in his limited opportunities this season.
Terrell Lewis wasn't playing for the Rams on Thursday night, so Michael Hoecht had another opportunity to show off his edge-rushing skills. The Raiders discovered they could attack Hoecht on outside runs and jet sweeps by taking advantage of his height and inexperience after a two-sack performance in Week 13.
Greg Gaines had a standout performance in a contest when the Rams were aware that the Raiders intended to try to pound the ball with Josh Jacobs. Gaines concluded the game on Thursday night with a total of six tackles, a QB hit, and he frequently ruined plays in the inside.
Gaines and Leonard Floyd are the Rams' two remaining defensive front starters with Aaron Donald and A'Shawn Robinson out. Gaines had one of his better games of the season in the victory over the Raiders, despite the fact that he didn't register a sack.
Bobby Wagner now appears in the takeaways article almost every week, but his performance on the field deserves to be recognised. Even if the Rams aren't in the playoff hunt, the All-Pro linebacker still competes at a high level despite being on the wrong side of 30.
Wagner led the Rams in tackles on Thursday night with a total of 14. He also made a few plays that weren't recorded in the stat sheet, including a few instances where he spied on Derek Carr's QB.
